The comedy “Cyrano de Bergerac” was authored by Edmond Rostand and first presented in 1897. The drama is composed entirely in rhyme scheme in its original French version. Roxane has no idea that she is falling for Cyrano’s love letters signed by Christian’s name.
Cyrano keeps the other person’s secret even when tragedy strikes, and she marries Christian. After Christian’s death, Cyrano pays her a weekly visit. Cyrano confesses to Roxane on his deathbed that he loves her and that he was the one who had secretly penned Christian’s letters the entire time.
