The Choir of Man info:
Under the artistic direction of Nic Doodson and the show’s director, Andrew Kay, The Choir of Man is a lively British musical performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017. Performed in The Jungle, a room in a pub, this celebration of masculine eroticism and homoeroticism with its compact cast of nine incredibly versatile actors-singers-dancers-instrumentalists, many of whom speak directly to the audience, is one of the most amazing things you’ll see.
This 90-minute production features a working on-stage bar, and audiences can enjoy free pints before and during the show. The production features arrangements of well-known songs across genres, including Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”, and covers of Adele’s “Hello,” Sia’s “Chandelier,” and “The Piña Colada Song”.
Scattered around the musical revue are poetic monologues by Ben Norris that round out the celebration of community and male friendship with emotional resonance. Since then, this “ultimate feel-good show” (The Guardian) has travelled the world, played sell-out runs in prestigious venues like Sydney Opera House and London’s West End, and has become one of the best-loved touring shows.
